Nearly There

Image
Nearing the end of my last year in junior high school. Only half of the second semester left. But even so, new things are being taught to us. There were a few difficulties that I have faced especially about making the web design. I was pressured on finishing it but I overcame it. I just needed to believe in myself and with a few help from my classmates, I finished it. Hopefully for the last part of the year, it will end great. Yuletide

Gift giving. Caroling. Ornaments. An occasion celebrated annually. Christmas it's called but what is its essence? Every year, we celebrate Christmas with our loved ones. During this time of the year, we get to hear people caroling outside our houses, listen to different Christmas songs where ever we may go, see decorations of all sorts, smell the dishes that are being cooked, and many more that we typically. All those gifts, whether monetary or not, those dishes, decorations, are they all important? Does Christmas only revolve around those things?  Christmas does not only mean receiving presents or eating ham, it is the season of giving. Not giving material gifts but spreading love to everyone. Just like how Jesus loves each and every one  of us. Speaking of Jesus, it is also about celebrating the day He was born. You see, the main reason why we commemorate this event is that we celebrate the day our Savior was born but not by ourselves, we celebrate it with our family

Violence

Image
All of us are aware that violence against women and their children is one of the most pressing issues around the world. It is not new to the public to frequently hear news about women and children getting physically, mentally, emotionally, and even sexually abused. But what are the roots that cause these kinds of happenings that have such huge impact on the society?                 Since it is a global problem, it’s just right for everyone to know the roots of this kind of situation in order to prevent it from happening. According to Battered Women’s Support Services (BWSS) Organization, violence against women is rooted in unequal power relationships between men and women. In a much broader context, structural relationships of inequalities in politics, religion, media and discriminatory cultural norms perpetuate to this problem. Other roots are dependent factors such as sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, class, and the alike.       Starting with the unequal power between m

Awareness. People should be aware of their surroundings fro them to know what is happening around them.  Our environment is in real chaos these days. In connection to this, we have the Environmental Awareness Month that also happens in the month of November. This celebration is made possible by the virtue of Republic Act No. 9512 which was signed on December 12, 2008. This law states that the promotion of national awareness on the role of natural resources in economic growth and the importance of environmental conservation shall be done through environmental education. With this matter at hand, it is just right for us to engage in the said activity for we were born not just to help fellow humans but also the other living creatures that are with us. We should care for them just as how we care for our families and friends. We are the stewards of God's creations after all. The environment has really changed. Different environmental problems are encountered each and

Children.  The month of November is the celebration of National Children's Month by the virtue of Republic Act No. 10661 which was signed on May 29, 2015 by then President Benigno Aquino III. As according to what I've read, this celebration commemorates the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of a Child by the United Nations General Assembly on Nov. 20, 1989. From the name, we can already tell that the main focus of this event is on children. Children are affected in a lot of ways. Whether it is physically, emotionally, and/or socially, it affects them real hard. That's why this celebration is here, to protect the children and promote their rights. Little children are fragile, that's why they need protecting  and guidance. Everyone should participate in this activity since we are talking about the condition of kids at stake. Every child has their right and should be known to avoid having abused children. The youth is an important part of s

Flags of Different Countries Across the Globe Peace makes the world go round. Peace is what each country seeks for. But more than that is given.  Peace is not the only thing that U.N. aims for, a lot more is being offered to millions of people.  Celebrating its 74 years of existence is the United Nations Day. Simultaneously, the school becomes one with the world in celebrating it every month of October with its highlight, the Search for Mr. and Ms. United Nations.  "Indigenous Languages Matter for Sustainable Development, Peace Building, and Reconciliation" is the theme for this year. The word peace is there and it goes to show that peace is what the United Nations Organization aim for, specifically world peace. Not only that but the organization has a lot more to give to each member. Founded by 51 members,  it aims to do lots of things.  The United Nations Logo Here are 3 big reasons why we should join in the celebration. Firstly, the U.N save

Additional information. Another quarter has passed. New lessons were learnt. New challenges were faced. This time around, I have got to know new things that I haven't heard or read before. At first, I was agitated whether or not I would be able to cope up with the new lessons ahead. Many things were gained from the activities that were done including lessons. There were minimal to no problems that I have faced for the topics are quite easy to understand. I just had to figure things out by myself and the problem's solved. First semester has already gone to an end with the exams approaching. Hopefully the lessons learnt will still be remembered by then and I'm expecting more interesting topics to come. The chapter is finished and a new one will come. Source: https://time.com/3936846/powerful-books-list/

Hero without a cape. Sans speed, sans flight, sans teleportation. Hero in their own ways. They may not have supernatural powers, they still have ability to help others in their daily lives. Never ending lessons to be taught. May it be about the course or about one's experience that others can have insights about. Laptop, chalk and eraser, lesson plans. A teacher's best friend. Students go to schools to learn things. Teachers prepare and review their topics to be discussed. They talk all throughout the day, walk to each classroom, check papers, and discipline students. Considered as daily routine. They may look easy going and carefree sometime but the truth is they have a lot of work to be done. They also have their own families to attend to.  “Gurong Pilipino: Handa sa Makabagong Pagbabago,” is the theme for the year. There's nothing much to talk about the theme for it only says that teachers are prepared for change. The highlight of this month lo

Academics.   Homework.   Activities. First thing that comes to mind when thinking about school is about the work students do in their academics. Having high scores in activities and tests make them happy. But is that the only way they can be happy? A school year is not complete without the yearly held Intramurals. Wherein students join and compete in different fields of sports according to their expertise. Sports and dancing can also make one happy. Relieving themselves from their problems for a period of time just to enjoy doing what they love to do especially if you’re a sporty type of person. “Enhancing Happy School Movement through Sports and Dances.” That is the said theme for the ISNHS Intramurals 2019. As tradition, different sports will be played. Some will be recognized as winners whilst others will still be winners in their own ways. Activities such as these promote the true spirit of sportsmanship as well as camaraderie. The only difference for this year i

Science and technology. Discoveries, findings, and explorations. There's never a dull moment in each and every year. Different activities and celebrations happen here and there. For the whole month of September, it is all about Science. Yes, science.  "Metabolize: Nourishing the Youth Toward National Well-Being" the theme for the year. Like the previous years, the Science and YES-O Club Officers did quite well for the whole month duration of activities. The never missed Sci-Trix, Sci Quiz, Sci Fight, and many more. We also won't miss out on the highly anticipated G. at Bb. Kalisakasan wherein candidates from different grade levels compete for the title. Same activities, though different theme being promoted to the student body. It is telling everyone that knowledge is the food that is given to the youth. Once metabolised, the youth will be nourished and the knowledge is going to be used to create a national well-being. Answers to questions are n

History. Culture. Celebration. Diversity. Union. World Heritage Cities Solidarity Day.  A yearly celebration of the City of Vigan every month of September.  A never missed occasion of every Bigueño. Different contests held for different ages. A celebration wherein we show our pride through showcasing our diverse culture as well as our history. It seeks not only to focus on our own but also to develop unity with neighboring towns and provinces that come and visit our beloved city. A quite good example is the food and trade fair. This trade fair, from the name itself, is trading of products such as wood crafts and native delicacies from other localities . Meaning, they get to show their own culture while we show them ours which is like the symbiotic relationship called mutualism. Not only does this help in the growth of knowledge about one's culture, it also helps in the economic growth of towns. Aside from products, skills of Bigueños are often tested in differe

School is to Happiness. The logo of the Happy Schools Movement Just like an easily spreading virus, happiness also spreads quickly. In this world we are living in, it's getting hard to pull off a genuine smile because of problems that one goes through. Not only adults but also teenagers and children who are studying worry about lot of school requirements needed to be passed.  Nowadays, school is a prison. Students are chained and cannot break free from it. They tend to focus on their grades and academics that it compromises their health like wise, their well-being. When you see their faces you will see that it's void of any emotion. Because of school works and the like, they even forget to smile and laugh to wash away problems temporarily. Because of this, the  DepEd-Region 1 thought of a way to relieve students from their stress, problems, and worries which is the launching of the "Happy Schools Movement."  This movement seeks to promote

Power of Language

Image
Understanding … Communication … A tool that one uses to interact with others. Around the globe, there are different nations with different languages spoken.   Some are quite diverse for they have been visited by different races. Nevertheless, a country has only one dominant language used. It’s that time of the year again. The month of Augustus Caesar wherein we celebrate the making of our language, it’s background and lots more.   Every single year, we Filipinos, celebrate our Buwan ng Wika , which translates to Month of Language or Language Month whenever it is already the eighth month of the year. Just like in the previous month’s celebration (which was Nutrition Month), there are lots of activities and programs to let the youth know more about the importance of having a certain language that unites the countrymen which also includes our land’s diverse and colorful culture. This year’s theme is: “Wikang Katutubo: Tungo sa Isang Bansang Filipino." If you would co

New Knowledge, New Skills

In our everyday lives, we cannot evade from discovering new things that add knowledge. These things might be of great help in the future. And if passionate about continuous doing of  the said activity, skills will be developed and honed. During the first half of the first semester, I have learnt a lot of new things. It includes all of the information and topics that are needed to know about a certain subject. I am certainly fond of electronics for I just love math and science combined. ICT is also quite interesting by means of the newly introduced words, terminologies, and names of great contributors especially in the field of internet.  We also got a chance to blog. Thus by doing so, our capabilities in writing improve little by little.  Certain nuisances cannot be avoided in doing new things. In the first few days of discussing, I was still having difficulty in adjusting to the new environment and getting to socialize with other people I have not known. Doing something diff

Preparedness Equates to Change

Image
It runs in the blood. We Filipinos are known for our resiliency when facing different challenges that come our way. We may fall hard and get hurt but we will bounce back. In conjunction, those scars and wounds will heal as time goes by. Thus, we yearly have the National Disaster Resiliency Month that’s being held every month of July. “Kahandaan sa Sakuna’t Peligro para sa Tunay na Pagbabago.” This is the theme for this year. If we try to put it in pieces, the completed puzzle would picture a more developed or changed country that is always prepared for any risk or disasters that come what may. Everyone knows that our country, the Philippines, is a disaster  prone country due to its geographic location. The whole nation is being told to always be prepared and evacuate though some are still hard-headed.     Disasters are inevitable yet preparedness comes in handy when facing these catastrophic events. Filipinos should learn by now that in every situation, they should

Lifestyle. Eating Habit. Weight Management. These days, people that are prone to diseases are gradually increasing in number. Inevitable it may be, there are preventive measures that can be done in order to lower the probability rate of it happening. There are a lot of factors at play. Culture, family background, and physical activities are a few to name some. All of these help in determining how fit and healthy a person is. With that said, our main concern is encouraging and informing others about nutrition. Yearly, we are celebrating the month of nutrition every July here in the Philippines. Many activities are being done to help each and every one engage in those activities to further enhance their knowledge in every single thing that has to do with nutrition, likewise healthy living. This year’s theme is: “Kumain nang Wasto at Maging Aktibo, Push Natin ‘to”. From how I can perceive its word, it talks about the two components in determining the state of your he

Unexpected arrival.              Occurrences like this just happen so sudden. We would not know when it will strike once again for we cannot foresee when or where it will happen. There is no gadget nor device that can help. That’s why the NDRRMC resorted to a solution that can aid everyone to be prepared.             Every year, the National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill is being held in every school nationwide. Through this event, students would know what to do in case of a sudden trembling in the earth’s core will happen. Duck, cover, and hold they always say. Form a single file, no panicking, they add.              Not only the students benefit from this but others as well. Everyone will know the things to do in order to be prepared. Even those done before, during, and after the quake are always being reminded of.              The said activity is quite good though the flow of events might be different. It is because when the time will come for this disastrous oc

Our dear leader,              It is of great pleasure to be writing this letter that is intended for you. First of all, I would like to greet you a wonderful day. Ever since you were seated as the newly elected president of our beloved land, many things have happened for the past few years. Some of which contributed to the development of the country while others, I’m just not sure about them.             In this letter I am expressing all of my concerns, admiration, dismay, support, and anything else in between towards your reign of presidency. I admire you for settling your priorities for creating a better country just like lowering the criminality rate and the like. I’m just disappointed in you for using such methods that led to the extent of having high fatality rates. I also think that some programs or laws were not carefully studied and thought about resulting in a bit of chaos.   But despite those, I’m grateful that you became our president for you have contributed

Liberty… Expression… Thoughts… Voices… Long ago, we were colonized by foreigners. This event led them to influence our ancestors thus, placing them under their authority. Since they were the ones in charge, it’s likely that they were holding our people by their necks. Threatening to kill them if they were to voice out any of their oppositions. Going mute, not being able to fight for their rights and having no independence are just a few results of it. At first, maybe these foreigners were wearing masks to hide their true facade and their malicious intentions. Later on, those masks fell therefore revealing their genuine nature. They became abusive and even called us frivolous people. Our heroes got sick and tired of being treated like trash hence, they decided to oppose foreigners by expressing their thoughts either orally or written and through their actions. Since starting a revolution, our national heroes have been fighting non-stop for the freedom of our own country an

Cracking codes is quite fun, but solving me will leave you puzzled. A simple teen with unique interests. Has talent in dancing. Loves math and science combined. An epicurean type of person and many more. Books, songs, and poems serve as her happy place. She appreciates the beauty of nature in every way and paints too, though not quite good at it. One must solve her to understand her. Source: https://www.garrettwade.com/1000-piece-murder-mystery-jigsaw-puzzles-gp.html
